A Definitive Ranking of the Gilmore Girls Boyfriends

Christopher is by far the worst boyfriend in the whole show. He abandons Lorelai and Rory only to have another child with Sherry and abandon her too. Then he marries Lorelai later right when things were getting good between her and Luke! Sorry not sorry, Christopher sucks.

Sorry, Paul. I almost forgot about you. Rory honestly did you dirty and cheated on you with Logan. But you didn't get enough screen time for me to have an informed opinion about you. Still better than Christopher. 

I hated Dean when I first watched this show when I was 16. Maybe he isn't as bad as I made him out to be, but I still resent him. He broke up with Rory IN PUBLIC in front of the whole town. Then he cheated on his wife, Lindsay, with Rory. Bad for Rory, bad for Lindsay. Hate him. 

You didn't think I would forget about Lane's boyfriends did you? Gilmore Girls may forget about Lane in the later seasons, but I don't. And I don't forget that Zack was a lazy band member and a worse husband. After he got Lane pregnant, effectively leaving her with no college or band prospects, he leaves her to do all the childcare and housework. Trash. 

Personal opinion: I feel like Logan was a bad influence on Rory. She got used to the comforts that his money provided and stopped working as hard (but we all know Rory seasons 1-3 > 4-7). Also an ultimatum of marrying him or breaking up? Talk about toxic. And this is not to mention the cheating both Rory and Logan did on their significant others during the revival to see each other. 

Digger understands Lorelai's upbringing better than anyone else. He also wants to escape his parent's shadow, but he is more interested in the money and luxury than Lorelai. He's solidly average, kind of forgettable tbh. 

Cute, nerdy, sweet, and in the band? Dave was the perfect first boyfriend for Lane. He was reserved and fit well into Lane's life at the time. He even tried to impress her mom by learning about her culture. It's a tragedy Adam Brody had to leave to star in The O.C. because Lane and Dave should have been endgame. 

Jess is the bad boy heartthrob I fell for as a teenager. Of all of Rory's boyfriends, he understands her best. He can keep up and talk books with her. But, he had some aggression issues in the original series that keep him from being perfect. 

I may be the only one who feels this way, but I love Max, and before Luke became a love interest for Lorelai, I hoped Max and Lorelai would end up together. He treated Lorelai so well, I mean 1,000 flowers? His effort is truly unmatched. He deserved better. 

Who else could be number 1? Luke and Lorelai were destined to be together since the first episode. And that their romance is a slow burn makes it all the more satisfying to see them finally get together. They are one of the best couples in all of TV.
