Ranking Gen Z Fashion Trends

(Photo above by Burgess Milner via Unsplash)

Let’s admit it — Gen Z runs the internet. They’re funny, politically active, and so fashionable. I can’t go on Instagram or Tik Tok without seeing a bunch of girls in a new style. Not that I’m complaining about it. It gives me outfit inspiration. But, admittedly, some of these trends are better than others. So I’ve collected the best ones below.

#2 Weird jeans

This one is hard to describe since there are so many variations, but it’s basically wearing any jeans that are not the standard, single-color pants. Some of the most popular types of embellished jeans are half bleached, hand painted, and patchwork. The best part of this trend is you can make them yourself by upcycling a pair of jeans you already own. Trendy and sustainable!

#3 Puffy Sleeves

One of the trends I was least expecting for this summer was puffy sleeves. I thought we left those in the ‘80s. But Ashley from the YouTube channel bestdressed is in love with them, so they’re fashionable now. And honestly in a delicate, feminine white shirt, the puffy sleeves can work. It fits in with the whole cottagecore “run away to live in a field” aesthetic, and I’m here for it.

#4 Sweatshirt/miniskirt/platforms combo

Not gonna lie, this combination confused me the first time I saw it. An oversized sweatshirt seems awkward over a small skirt and falls at a weird place. But now that I’ve seen it all over Tik Tok, I’m kind of living for it. The short skirt paired with the platform shoes and the full coverage on the top gives the illusion of mile-long legs. And now I’m rummaging through my own closet trying to recreate this look.
